For the past 20 years, KCMSA has held the Charity Ball for Children as the major fundraising effort to support the charitable efforts of the KCMSA Foundation. Recipients of the 2010 Charity Ball for Children are Gilda's Club Grand Rapids and Kids Food Basket.  Funds from the KCMSA Charity Ball will be used to assist Gilda's Club Grand Rapids with their expanded support program for children (ages 3-18) who are grieving the death of a friend or family member. Here, children can find support among their peers - with specific groups for teens, "tweens" and younger children.  The funds will also be used by Kids Food Basket to provide sack suppers for one to two additional schools from their current waiting list of 16 schools.  The additional funding will insure 100 to 200 more children will receive a nutritious sack supper every school night.

Surf and Turf Sale & Dinner

The KCMSA Surf and Turf sale is an annual fund-raiser for the KCMSA Foundation to support the Mini Grant Program.  Members and others in the community are encouraged to order live lobster, frozen lobster tails, shrimp, filet minion and /or New York strip steaks.  Order forms are also available in the Bulletin or by calling Holly Hirai Jones.  Delivery will be Friday, April 16, 2010. We also host an annual Surf and Turf Dinner, a casual, fun evening.  Members order their live lobster and/or steak to be prepared and served as part of a lovely dinner. This year's event will take place Saturday, April 17 at Noto's Old World Dining, 6600 28th St. SE in Grand Rapids.  There will be a Social Hour (cash bar) at 6:00 pm followed by dinner at 7:30.  Cost for Surf OR Turf is $50; Surf AND Turf is $69. There will also be a drawing with proceeds going to the KCMS Alliance Foundation to support mini-grants.  Please make your reservation by calling Holly Hirai Jones.

The annual Surf and Turf Sale has been an enjoyable and profitable way to earn funds for the KCMSA Foundation and something members look forward to each year!
